Do you know how I know we have been married for three years now? I know because, I finally stopped falling for his ibuprofen joke:

"Does anyone have any ibuprofen?"

"Oh, I might have some in my purse, let me-"

(Holds arm in flexed position while kissing his muscles) "Because I can't get this swelling to go down!"

"Ha. Ha. Ha..."

Now that I'm not falling for it anymore, it goes more like this:

"Does anyone have any ibu-"

"DON'T LISTEN TO HIM YOU GUYS, HE'S PLAYING A JOKE ON YOU! HE DOESN'T NEED ANY IBUPROFEN! IT'S A JOKE YOU GUYS! HE THINKS HE'S FUNNY!"

You see? What a great three year marker.

For our anniversary lunch today, the hubs took me to HuHot, the new mongolian grill next door. It. Is. Delicious. I stuffed myself wayyy too full and the longer I sit here at my desk the more I wish I was wearing my sweatpants right now.

When we first got to the grill we ordered our drinks and then I split to use the bathroom. When I came back to our table and saw my bright pink drink sitting there, the conversation went as follows:

Me - "Why is my drink pink?'

Dan - (while sipping on his drink) "Didn't you order the cherry Dr. Pepper? Maybe it's the cherry flavoring."

Me - "Huh. Yeah. Weird." Takes a sip.

Dan - (still sipping his drink) "Maybe he accidentally gave you sprite?"

Me - (takes another sip) "Ohh yep, that's definitley sprite." (looks at Dan's almost-gone drink) "What did you get?"

Dan - "Raspberry gingerale."

Me - "Huh. Why is your drink so dark? That's weird."

(Pause. LIGHTBULB TURNS ON FOR BOTH OF US AT THE SAME TIME)

"Ooohh!! Switch drinks!"

And then we laughed and laughed until I felt pretty certain that I had burned off at least half of my calories from the day.

And this, my friends, is why I made the best decision I have ever made three years ago today. I have spent the past three years laughing my life away. Until I met Dan, I honestly didn't comprehend the importance of being with someone who makes you laugh. I didn't know how much I needed to laugh. How it makes everything better, that laughing thing. Because life gets you down and nothing goes as planned, and where would I be if I didn't have someone that made me laugh through it all?

I love my boo. I love him because he's my best friend. I love him because he makes me laugh everyday. I love him because things aren't perfect for us, but he's perfect for me and I'm perfect for him. I love him because he makes me want to be the best person I can be. I love him because not only does he support me in pursuing my dreams, but he's pretty much my number one fan.

I love him.

Happy Anniversary to us! And you better believe I'm using this as an excuse for a big ol' slice of chocolate cake that I've been craving forevveerrrrrr! (because calories don't count on celebration days, remember?)
