Three years.

11/03/2011
Three years ago I started dating the man who turned into my best friend and the love of my life.

The first day of my official crush on Dan started when he showed up to the Halloween party me and my friends threw in October 2008. I was decked out as a dead prom queen. Dan showed up in jeans and a t-shirt.

It all went up from there. We had an Indiana Jones marathon at my house. He asked me out on our first date to Juniper Take Out while I had a break from my night class. Not long after that he asked me to be his girlfriend.

I was thinking the other day about how I am just as crazy about Dan now as I was three years ago. When we started dating I had the butterflies in my stomach all the time, I got weak knees when I was around him and I couldn't get myself to stop smiling. I had the most amazing connection and attraction with him, one I'd only dreamed of having before. I knew right away that he was the love of my life, but it took some time for him to see the same thing. My biggest fear was always losing him, so I stuck around through the hard times when we were dating. And I'm sure glad I did!

Don't get me wrong, nothing is perfect and we've sure had our ups and downs here and there. But since we got married I guarantee not a single day has gone by without him making me laugh! Even on the bad days, we have a great ability to get over fights quickly and he always turns it into a joke. Dan is hands down the funniest guy I know. Having a good sense of humor has always been high on my "future husband quality requirment list".

Dan making me laugh everyday has been the best thing for me.

I love his laugh.

I love how he gets so excited over the smallest things, like Hi-Chew candy or Wipeout on tv.

I love how he does the dishes every night so that I don't have to.

I love his sexy scruffy face that he sports 10 months of the year.

I love his ambition to try new things. I love his patience with me while he teaches me new things.

I love how social he is, always pushing to do something fun every week. He keeps me young!

I love his athletic abilities. Dan is good at everything he does. It's kind of ridiculous.

I love the cute love notes he leaves me randomly. Like writing "I love Meg" in the dust on our coffee table, or sending me sweet texts while I'm at work.

I love the compliments he gives me everyday. I take them for granted, but I really do love them. Beautiful, sexy, hot, and gorgeous are words he uses often, and I can never hear them enough!

I love watching him be a daddy to Jace. I love how Jace lights up when he sees him. I love how Dan reads to him everyday, how he plays with him and teaches him new things.

I love how he makes me want to be a better person everyday.

I love how Dan and I "equal each other out". The qualities he struggles in are some of my finest, and vice versa. It's cheesy and cliche, but it's true: we complete each other.

I know we were meant to be. I know there isn't anyone in the world I'd rather be with, grow old with and raise a family with. I know we're not perfect, but I have learned with Dan that love really is all the matters!

Three years ago if I could have peeked into the future I probably would have cried when I saw how my dreams had all come true.

So here is to mi amor, to three awesome years, and the many more to come!!! ♥♥♥
