I'm probably the kind of positive optimist that makes a lot of people throw up a little in there mouth. And I'm really sorry about that. Would you belive that I kind of can't help it? Because, well, I kind of can't.

So the thing about this week is that it hasn't really been my favorite week. Don't get me wrong, I love me some summer rain but I have felt a little like the gray clouds filling the sky. I've got a bit of a head cold, which makes mornings really rough. I haven't been to the gym in a couple of weeks now, which is basically like missing therapy sessions. Work has been stressful. You know, just this or thats that make me feel more bleh than usual.

And during weeks like this, the makes you barf optimist in me likes to make a little list of the things I'm grateful for, the things that get me through feeling so bleh. Try not to throw up all over me, okay?

//  Dr. Pepper! Is anyone really surprised this is first on my list?

//  Tanning lotion. I know it sounds pathetic and ridiculous, trust me, I know. But as pathetic as it is, it's a huge pick-me-up when I go from pale to deliciously tan in a matter of seconds.

//  Good friends. The kind that call me to chat and stop by my house to visit me. This week I've had a few and it makes my heart full. The older I get, while everything is swirling with craziness and kids and work and responsibility, the more I gain a true appreciation for good friends that make an effort to be in my life. I love my friends.

//  On that note, good neighbors. We have our share of bad neighbors around my parts, but the good ones make life grand. Mister J has his favorite house with his favorite people that he runs to excitedly everytime I let him outside, and I'll be darned if it's not the cutest thing. "DEREK! Hiiiiii Derek!!!" And they run to each other and pull out every toy in the garage, while me and mama sit on the porch and chat. It's something to be grateful for, that's for sure.

//  Mister J's preschool teacher. On Tuesday I got off work earlier than normal and showed up at preschool unexpected. When I walked in they happened to be right in the middle of playing with playdough and stamps. Before he noticed I had arrived I got to watch him in action, laughing and talking and having fun with the other kids. MELT MY HEART moment, you guys. As a working mom, when I have to leave my child with someone I need to feel completley confident in them, and I sure hit the jackpot with this one. Mister J loves going to teacher Michelle's house, and mama loves it because he learns so many new things everyday. Teacher Michelle is patient and loving and a great teacher, and heaven bless her!

//  Scrubs. Not the kind nurses wear, although those are something to be grateful for, but rather the tv show. It's old news, but we own all of the seasons and watching an episode or two every now and then (everyday?) makes me happy. Even though I've seen them all three times already. Because I love to laugh, especially on downer days!

Of course I would add my main men to my bullet list, but they are a big fat duh! in the list of things that get me through everything.

And there you go, THAT is what is making me happy this week. The things I have to be grateful for. Isn't it funny how sometimes even the smallest things, like your favorite tv show or your favorite drink, can really pick you up?

Also, add in there free business lunches and Jimmy John's sandwiches, because in a few minutes that will be another grand pick-me-up.

It's almost friday you guyysss! We can make it!

PS I just dare you to try making a list of the things that picked you up this week, and tell me it didn't make you feel a little better!
