I'm not over-the-top when it comes to Christmas, but it's about the only holiday that I really throw out some decorations for. Sunday morning we pulled in all of our christmas tubs and started putting out some this and thats.
You know what I love most about Christmas? The smell. As soon as our tables were laid with garland and pine cones, as soon as the tree (albeit, a fake tree) was set and the lights were turned on...suddenly my house smelled like christmas, from head to toe. And I decided that was the best part of it all!
This really is the best time of year. Granted, the closer it gets to Christmas the more I avoid driving in downtown traffic or setting foot in the marketplace. But still. The feeling in the air, the lights adorning the trees and wrapped around the telephone poles, the smell of peppermint that seeps into everything in town. The saran wrapped plates of fudge on the doorsteps. The hot chocolate, the mittens, the music, the wrapping paper and scotch tape. It's all so...perfect.
Welcome, Christmas time. We kind of love you around here.
{ps} cybermonday shopping? killed it! take that black friday!
