You guys might want to sit down for this, because I'm about to say something that I never say.
Are you ready for it?
This morning was grand.
Just grand!
I woke up early to the birds chirping outside. The sun was shining through the windows so brightly that I was sure someone had snuck into my house and set my clocks back three hours. I daresay that the one thing that could get me out of bed bright and early is the sun. Bless that sun!
I threw on a sweater and headed downstairs where I worked on writing my book while sipping on a mug of hot water, honey and lemon. When 7:00 rolled around I wandered to the living room and turned on Good Morning America, just as mister J woke up and decided to join me. We made buttery-toast and took our vitamins while sitting on the couch and watching the news.
When it was time for daddy to head to work we stood at the window, waving and blowing kisses as we most often do. "Daddy work van! Bu-bye daddy! MMMUUAAHHHH!"
Then it was go, go, go, get ready for the day. Mama has it down to a strategy and can get ready in ten minutes flat. And would you know, we were ready for the day a whole hour early? So we packed it up and headed off to the park, the one that is only a block away from preschool.
Did you know that 8:00 in the morning is the best time to go to the playground? Because, it is. No one melts into puddles, no one to share the swings with, only the birds chirping in the trees to keep us company. It is splendid.
When it came time for preschool mister J couldn't be bothered with getting back in the car. Because almost nothing in this world is worse then being strapped into a carseat, so he tells me every-dang-day. Just wait!, I tell him, one day you'll be begging to go back to the days when being forced into a carseat was your worst problem! I don't know about you, but my kid HATES that carseat.
Anyway, I didn't feel like dealing with the fuss so we decided to walk to preschool. Which was fun and grand and all, until halfway there when mister J's flip flop broke at maybe the exact time that he decided to poop. But it's okay, because whatdoyoudo. We carried on and made it to preschool, maybe a little more dirty and stinky then we planned on, but we made it nonetheless.
And there you have it folks, a post where I use words like grand and splendid, and all before 9:00 in the morning! Unheard of!
Speaking of unheard of, this is worth mentioning: Last night after a long day of work where I covered for our receptionist and dealt with a kinked neck that is honestly threatening to BE THE DEATH OF ME, I walked in the house and I thought to myself, what is that delightful smell??!
Do you want to know what that smell was? Dinner, my friends. It was dinner. The hubs made dinner and it was ready when I got home from work. And I like to use italics to get my point across when something is amazing.
Homestyle oven baked mac&cheese with four-cheese mashed potatoes. Extra cheese and extra starch, just the way I like it!
What a guy.
{PS} Have I mentioned how much I love summah-time? Because get ready for me to mention it everyday from now until September. Hashtag sorrynotsorry.
